Crop Over Soca 2012 songs I love so far

Crop Over Soca 2012 songs I love

Some people like the bubbling ragga-soca, some like the social commentary, many love all soca in general. Me, I like the soca that tell stories but I love the wukup do bad, juk down, fast paced, hard beat soca, not any and every one though. The generic 'wave ya flag', 'wuk up wuk up' won't always get my attention. It's May 2012 and I've heard a few online that I enjoy. Nothing yet from Nard or John Mahameed who I always look forward to hearing. There are one or two from my other favorites Madd, Peter Ram, Lil Rick. Most of the new generation calypso have a few elements of dancehall, some slightly spooge-themed I've realised. Props to all the young producers. Below is a list of  Barbados Crop Over Soca 2012 songs I love so far.

Peechink Riddim

Blue Diesel Riddim - Platta Studios
Crimeson - Throw a tantrum (Soundtrack of my weeks for the past few months, always looking forward to weekends)

Marry-Go-Round Riddim - Play Evolution Entertainment

Stall Up Riddim - Jafar 'Da Prezident' Burnett-Hinds (Renaissance Entertainment)
Stiffy, Jagwa - Delete (nonsense broadcasts would make you get delete)

Haven't heard a combo like this in a while. A bubbly social-commentary-ish tune about Peter with his newish purple-heart house and his neighbor Maizy with having a voracious wood ants problem. 'You wood ants eating my wood'. The always comical Madd weighs in having the same problem

Every bajan knows about 'Days'. The most watched delayed show that started from eons ago on our local channel 8. In this song Stiffy goes home to his wife, hungry and looking for food but nothing has been cooked because his gal is watching DOOL, when he tries to disrupt the obsessive tv watching, he gets beaten by her.

This is the tune. So much meaning in this one for me. It speaks about the 'white people', probably upper-class and middle class bajan white teenagers or 20 somethings and their weekend doings. Blue Box Cart band gonna rape this song. I especially love the break at 2.32 secs. Great stuff. There is a dance dubstep remix too.

Alison Hinds - Soca Til We Die (Greenlight Riddim) [Produced by Blood ReddHedd Records]
The soca queen at it again. Lovely, this should be a BIG hit!

Crab Soldier - Lewwe Cheat (Gigabyte Riddim) [Produced by GINO-Xplicit Studios]

'Brace bubble, down to de ground, sain like crimeson mix up wit pong, sain like jones, work, guh down'

Soca Ninja - Don't arrest me (Greengold Records)
Has to be the most hardcore generic beat for me so far.

Dutty Android - Wineing dan [Prduced by Monstapiece x Peter Coppin]
The 'Conduckta' shows his talent on a smooth, sweet and groovy riddim.

All the songs on the Crazy Jab riddim produced by some big heavyweights, King Bubba, Gorg, Dwaingerous. Slightly reminiscent of the Popso of 2011

special mention Rebel Glam x Fantom Dundeal
looking forward to the rest of the crop over season 2012 releases.
