‎"Falling in love" is meeting someone and talking to them for about 2 mnths..sadly for some people it is 2-3 weeks and then "realising" how much you "love" them. A relationship usually doesn't last long that way. It just brings more complications..like getting attached too quickly, not giving each other the time and space for ones-self or to miss each other, getting a bit too obsessed..and those things can lead to jealousy and Cheat-paranoia, which also drags along a crap-load of insecurities.

Growing in love is when you are in a relationship with someone who you can't really say you love at 1st...because love is not something you can determine in such a short space of time. Growing in love is when you learn about that person you're with, you allow yourself to appreciate that person's qualities and the relationship, you give yourself time to think about the reasons why you should love person, why they deserve your love. It's obviously also going through "the fire" with them but still being patient enough to listen and working things out, and that makes the relationship more valuable..which makes your love for them go a couple bars higher..simply because you appreciate everything about that person and 50/50 fairness is

1st visit to the Limegrove Barbados complex

LIMEGROVE BARBADOS - The Lifestyle Centre

My flame and I took a trip to Holetown, St.James yesterday to check out the new west-coast complex even though not that new, as I've been knowledgeable about this Altman's development since it's intro in the Ins + Outs Barbados 09' publication. That was a bit of time ago, when the focus was really on the residential aspect and which stores might get the exclusive luxury opportunity to operate. Roof-deck Club Priva Barbados is one such company.

Making our entry into the Courtyard, we bypassed the Ralph Lauren outlet store, a HOT spicy lingerie store and Dolce Gelato's own Pastry Box [for the sweet tooths like me] and I recognized a condiment store from India [the owner had gotten a big expose in a local outlet, I remember].

As we took in all the sleek lines and parallel modern architecture, we noticed a a few touchscreen panels in the walls. There was a self-playing piano [from Pianoman Barbados] tucked well into a corner on the 1st floor, where we also saw the Grove Gallery with the very intriguing + dazzling Treasures From Another Island: Cuban Art Showcase.

Further nosing around, we came across the construction area for The Loft + The Limegrove Cinemas [really excited and can't wait till it opens] then there was the GLO spa, The Kartushe Boutique [there's also a South Coast outlet], Vileroy + Boch [for that luxury cutlery], Eye-Q + Kitchen Sync [love the names]. I'll be really interested as to what Kitchen Sync will offer. So, upstairs we were and the view of the water wall was pretty much superb, we took a seat on the curvaceous minimal bench and soaked it all up. What a posh experience! But we were not done.

Two main elite fashion stores had to get the once-over, starting with Armani A|X. Grey and Black hues greeted us when we entered, I headed straight for the denim section, top quality apparell and tshirts with prices not unlike top Bajan Botutiques. Around $80 BDS Duty-Free for a tshirt, $175 for a jeans and such. The lady section was exquisite to say the least. Onto Ralph Lauren, the grandest store of the directory so far. Really spacious and bright, my first impression was. The prices were as fair as I expected, even though I saw a pair of brown loafers for 1700.00 BDS Duty-paid. I especially loved the seats and coffee table [which gave for a lounge-y shopping time] and how the cashier desk was tucked away/recessed into the centre. The staff was all smiles in their branded work outfits.

I would say about 60 percent of the stores were open [the Greek restaurant OPA was making equipment arrangement during our visit] and I imagine this Lifestyle Centre will be a welcome shopping and hanging out experience when fully opened later this year.

Bajan Vegetable Soup recipe

Fully loaded wholesome tradition

a BIG obzocky pot
some seasonings like onions/chives/garlic/italian herbs/assorted soup seasoning
lil bit o butter
de staples; pototoes/yams/eddoes/carrots/pumpkin/breadfruit/squash/sweet potatoes
de 2nd tier veg; plantain/okras/cabbage/corn
some peas [lentils/kidney beans or black eye peas]
some barley
flour/sugar/essence/baking powder/nutmeg for de dumplings

Ort now, put some water wit a lil salt and black pepper in de pot to boil
thruh in de peas and barley
prepare yuh ground provisions; peel/clean and chop up de potatoes/yams/eddoes/onions/sweet potatoes/breadfruit/squash
add dem to de water in de pot and let dem boil up fuh bout 15 minutes
mek sure sure ya check them evry now + then for everything get cook too soft
now start pun de level 2 veg; clean/peel and cut up de carrots/okras/cabbage/pumpkin/plantain/corn
when you dun that, add de chives/garlic/italian herbs to de water
then put in de veg yo just dun prepare, let tha boil up for boil fa 10 mins
time for de bakes; put de butter in a bowl, add de sugar and stir um up, put in de baking powder/nutmeg and flour
mix up with a lil water + de essence cos de batter gotta be fairly stiff
spoon off lil balls into de broth
all you gotta do now is wait for bout 5 minutes till d dumplings cook thru and ya done

2011 Cinema Outting 01-02+03

Movies; watching them in the cinema is why there is a thing called Box Office.

I've watched Burlesque/Green Hornet + Faster.
An impressive musical/superhero adventure-type comedy + a macho revenge action.

Welcome to Burlesque > It takes a LEGEND... to make a STAR

Joseph Legall loves musicals or rather films with songs/dance themes throughout; Hairspray/Sweeney Todd/Take The LEAD and this movie was no exception. Totally enjoyed it. Cher + Christina, two brilliant voices who make for fantastic ear orgasms, oh and beautiful too.

The Golden Globe was much deserved. Story: a young girl wanting to explore her potential in the big city, making her way to a club, run by a former dancer and seeking to become one of the best performers in the country albeit not without difficulty and heartache. Meets a young lad [engaged] who more or less guides her and becomes a close friend. There's conflict in the background, being that a smart businessman is trying to buy over the club so as to make high rise condos, much to the delight of former dancer's partner + ex-husband but to the dismay of said owner. Bills are piling and something dramatic has to change to favor the club. Enter melody-rich/sassy hometown girl with a voice so powerful, she becomes the club's lead performer in one go. Romance ensues and smart business man guy tries to woo the new star with gifts and such, leaving the young lad sad + depressed, as he's come to realize his love for her. By the end of the film all is mended, the club remains open, ex husband goes away smiling to the bank/bad blood between the star and former lead rival is cured. Emotion between the starlight and lad is rich in affection.

What I really really enjoyed of this film were the club scenes; the sex appeal/cleverness of the performances throughout the venue. Music was definitely on point, I highly recommend a good listen to the 13 song OST. I'd definitely watch it again.

Best scenes;
-when rival performer pulled the audio plug to the music Christina was miming to which ended with her being the star after her big voice saved the night.
-when everything appeared to be falling apart for the owner and she performs a song 'haven't' seen the last of me' at an opportune rehearsal.

On my way through the South Coast last night, thinking about my future internet gaming centre business, I happened upon a new store in Hastings Mall. Little did I know the store was actually just that.

As I enter, I see abut six 32' LCD spaciously set up with XBOX 360's, Wii and PS3, looking aound the brilliantly lighted grey/silver/white room, I glance to the back... What greets me but 4 different colored Alienwares with 22' wides. Could I be in a better place? I wanted to scream from glee. Not wasting any time, I asked for an hour [$10]. Sitting at a system donning my headset, who should appear but Gabriel Abed an old accomplice to the once grand, now defunct GAMEZONE. Challenging me to a COD:BO Deathmatch.

Only opened a few days ago, Gabby's been in here a lot as his office is just a few doors away. I can almost guess what processor these Alens are running as I select Black Ops from Steam. A quick check on the Windows 7 hardware dialog gives me these specs; i7 processor/6gb RAM

After getting crucified by Gabby [even though he was against two people] I browse the other games. Titles I'm seeing include World of Warcraft, Starcraft 2, Half Life, Dirt2. Dirt2?!!! OMG, enough said. I sent a quick tweet via the Chrome browser [speedtest:2.8mbs] and I was away.. 45 minutes later, deep in my Rally profile, oblivious to anything but my screen ahead....
'Are you a racer?' Co-owner Stephen asks. 'We've got NEED FOR SPEED:HOT PURSUIT arriving on Monday' Orgasm to my ears. I can see myself spending a lot of time here in the future.

Now, I can't wait to tell all my gamer peoples and get the old GZ crew back in one place;

Was it fate that Omar, another big heavy-weight gamer from GZ passed through while I was there?

Lately I've found myself shying away from the funky/soulful house and more into the trancey-electro-club type with emphasis on vocals. Tried a bit of semi-creativity with looping and inter-cue-ing. Looking forward to getting a pair of CDJ-350's and a DJM-350 sometime early next year hopefully so I may be entirely hands-on and get uber-imaginative.

As ironic as forward foreshadowing fantastic fuel for filling full my fabulous fury after an odd alliteration of allied alliances who aligned allegedly to allow a form of allusion which I somehow alleviated. Bing Bong! The creativity timers stop, just before another hyperbole pothole deeper than the Atlantic ocean. Wbump! There's another onomatopoeia. Wukuptologist in training cropover t shirt concept

Came up with this idea after a certain miss Headley, brought to my attention the concept of wukuptology.
Seeing that I only have 1GB Ram and the only Adobe product on my system is Lightroom, for this project I've had to use MSPaint + mt.Paint believe it or not.

here begins the 'wukuptologist in training' cropover design tee walk-through

First, I had to come up with a witty phrase;
'wukuptologist in training, female wukup-ers, bring your bumpers for analysis and sample taking' seemed legit.

What is wrong with this incident?

Guy goes to the local cinema to see one of his most anticipated movies of the year, films a 'minute long' finale scene, only to have his mobile phone grabbed untactfully from his hands...No explanation till end of the movie...and phone NOT returned after citing all obedience!!

This particular chap was me... how was I to know, any kind of filming whatsoever in a cinema [any country] is a criminal offense! I'm aware you'd be in the wrong to record from start to finish, obviously.... Damn.. I usually abide by rules [reasonable of course], I mean if there was a sign 'Absolutely No Filming In The Cinema For It Is An Indictable Offense', definitely this incident would not have been possible.. Yes, now I am aware it was wrong. Obviously it won't happen again..

Now, the politics of the story;
After the very exciting finale...I make my way to the exit, not impolitely greeting the oppressor [who happens to be the Owner, surrounded by two security personnel]..deep breath...I kindly ask for the return of my mobile phone, and was told basically "the process for the return of your item, is to bring your identification and address information to the office and your phone will be given back to you" ...so I pause, take it all in, [thinking Ok, how about you fools erase the video and return my Nokia E71 (God forbid, if it was a $1000 BB) NOW like RH!!!]..I tell you, thoughts boy...
right... "I agree, let me get this clear, I give you my I.D card [to check my solidity] and my address [more than likely 'proof of'] and that's it!" "Yes! You've committed a criminal offense [read:CRIME] and that is the procedure" [possibly I'm thinking they need to make a record]... now I don't live very far from said local cinema and so I retort, "What time do you close as I live nearby" "within 30 minutes" was the reply.. ''Alright, I'll go home quickly grab my I.D/Proof Of Address, be back in 20 minutes, then I'll collect my phone.." "No, you will return tomorrow at the office!'' was stated.. "But, you don't understand, this is my business phone, and I need it explicitly for my work!!!" Usually I would be on a polite [bordering on indifferent] rampage but being sick [bloody cold/sore throat] I decided not to pursue any further..
In conclusion, there was no reason [that he gave] why I could not have adhered to the rules that night, and have my precious phone returned..
and now questions need to be raised...

What happens when my device is returned and there are visible defects or information [excluding controversial video] missing?

Will there be a sign placed stating that video-taping in the cinema is illegal? [btw the guy stated it was common knowledge, just as it is common to murder (very strong word, hey man I'm 90% pacifist) someone and be under the law]

Why, giving the reasonable parameters of time, and obedience could my phone, not be returned 'same night'?

Did he have the right to grab my phone without instant explanation? i.e - 'I'll take this!' then *SNATCH*! rather than "You are not permitted to record in the theater, please stop immediately, delete the video or I will have to take [confiscate] your phone and following, there will be a process to have it returned".

I'm not into should..but Should I have asked for the phone so that I may lock the contents?
I remembered our old Secretary sued a certain telecommunications company for having taken her phone for repair...then only to see it as a loner phone in a friend's hand. She won on the grounds of.... AHEM...sentimental values.

Hmmm I do bet the Safe Society aka Seth [genius but taken for granted because of appearance 'very much like me'] would have a wonderful time with this story!!

As eccentric as I am, I would group together probably thirty persons [testing the limit of the security], go to a movie, take a few images of the film while showing, then at the final scene collectively record one minute and see what happens... Of course, I would have told everyone upon exiting the room to delete said clip... ahh but that's silly me...

David Rodigan in Barbados

Pappa Rodigan, affectionately known as the grandfather of reggae dubplates was in Barbados for one night only at Club Xtreme on the lst day of April.2010, thanks to Guttaperk Entertainment . Warmup juggling was done by M.V.P , Mad Squad [featuring Peter Ram + Mikey Dread] and Renegade Int'l. [Jon Doe's quick release selections had the place hyper and ready!] At approximately 2.13AM, the big man graced the stage..

First tune; the Marley brothers, Damien and Stephen's 'mission' on dub [I remember this to be one of his favorite opening songs in clashes of late], from then on some non-dubplate juggling for 12 minutes, giving the bajans a history of the tunes and what they meant to him [as he ALWAYS does]..

Right, down the line.. in the heat of the club, we heard plates by Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Tenor Saw, Sanchez, Beres, Ninjaman, Ini Kamoze.. a lot of Sizzla and Bounty [one in particular was dedicated to Squingy later in the dance, reason being that Squingy was also a great lover of Rodney Price]

show some signal!!

Some highlight/selections that stuck out for me;
-King Tubby's dub.
-Alton Ellis' special [even Jon Doe seemed overwhelmed by that one].
-Nas + Junior Gong's 'As We Enter' - very very big tune [and not only in part that it's one of my fav songs at the moment]
-a popular Bob Marley track on a version I've never heard before.......speaking of Bob, Rodigan introduces his songs like no other, for example.. '30 years ago, he was in a studio [Studio One if I recall] and Bob took a cassette out of his pocket, put it in the player, and asked Rodigan what he thought of it, too uptempo!? Rodigan's reply was, it was good, either way, Bob said OK, Roddy you gonna have that one exclusively on Capitol One radio tomorrow..name of the track? COULD YOU BE LOVED! Another introduction was 'I come from England, where it's cold, but today when I got off the plane in Barbados, and the lovely refreshing sun hit me, and I thought my Gosh, first time here I'm feeling the vibe already!? WOW!!' Basically that's how he introduced 'Sun is shining, here I am', bare in mind, these quotes might not be exactly what he said, but the basically the gist that was portrayed.
-Bob Marley never cut any dubs! that was confirmed [as I told a certain bajantube cousin of mine] BUT Bob sang a few one-way songs. [only true reggaeoloigsts would know exactly what that means].
-the 3 the hard way dub, [the song title eludes me now] but it was significant because the preceding speech. '3 artistes inna pub beating a kette drum.......'
-Many in the crowd did not seem to realize the significance of the recently voiced Dennis Brown, Nas and Damien Marley's Land of promise dub, most likely because it's so spanking new [only released a few days before] but I'd already heard it of course.
-Can't forget the Conroy Smith 'Dangerous'.
I somehow wished he had dropped the Marcia Griffiths, or this song [http://mp3twit.com/2rT] one of my fav Rodigan selections from WC 2008, that would have done it for me!!!!!

Moving along.. straight forward right through, even though there were some songs the bajans were supposed to be familiar with, that didn't seem to get the reaction he hoped for.....but the Most Forward!?;
-tie between the Garnett Silk tune and Cocoa Tea's 'Underage Sound - one of his most prized possessions, mainly for the fact that young sounds [which cause progression in the business], even though they might 'gwaan' wicked, they always get humbled with it..
-Romain Virgo 'Feels it knows it 'and Konshens 'Realest song' [two hit songs currently receiving lots of airplay on the fm's] btw I hardly listen to the radio now, my fm is my laptop.fm..
-the nineties dub cd.. tune after tune!! quick! the feedback from that is still very very memorable in my mind. MAAAAAAAAAAAWD!!!
-oh and 'dubplates playing in the ghetto tonight' was a BIG hit!

here's a video of Rodigan saying how technology has upgraded dubplate cutting in reference to traveling to any particular studio in the world. AND introducing the biggest reggae song in theUK that was cut a few hours earlier.

After playing for just over 1hour + 10 minutes, the last dubplate was played [not the last song by him, mind you] it was Cham's Ghetto Story chronicling Rodigan's achievements through the years.. MAAAAAAAAD hearing it live and direct!! Coming on to the end he seemed a bit annoyed that the next deejay, DMZ [Tallman of Slam.fm formerly of Hott.fm] was delayed in getting to the stage.
One thing, absolutely no Kartel or Mavado [even though he's got LOTS] or new fangled dancehall like Blak Ryno or Merital or Jah Vinci that some radio selectors here seem to depend on..you also gotta give him props for using cd's...Interestingly enough his deejay Peewee was not in attendance.

The show had the same vibe as the Mighty Crown one on Xmas night in 07' at Club 360 [when I spoke to Sammy]..but on a higher level!
mi nah lie rodigan a bad sound, but THE FAR EAST RULAZ is still my favorite sound!!! SzEEEEEEEEEEN!

I've seen comments on facebook, about the show which makes it seem that most of the attendees were overwhelmed by his selections..what did they expect!?..obviously they won't have my sort of knowledge of reggae and it's progression through the years..I'm not saying that most local 'deejays' are illiterate and ignorant, but they've got to know, that to make it on the big international stage, you gotta come HARD and correct. I'm sure everyone left the dance with a little more knowledge of reggae.. BIG up Rodigan. hey! Hey! HEY!

I'd recommend reading 'The story of Jamaican music' by LLoyd Bradley..it's a BIG glossy book that'll give you a view into the early era.. also get the 4cd album that accompanies it if you could.

One last thing though, if I speculate [due to the Rodigan's frequent references to Jon Doe] and say that Renegade Int'l is indeed Barbados' best sound [obviously not because of his no.1 morning radio show 'Morning Mayhem'], how exactly would an individual come to that conclusion? There hasn't been any clash to differentiate the toughest sound here, except maybe for that half-hearted Monstah Piece vs King Bubba in 05 [I think it was].. Personally, I don't think Jon Doe [rumored to be trained by King Yellow of St.Philip] can't touch Lil Rick in tune selection..just my humble view.

I saw a camera-man filming on-stage, so more than likely there'll be an official video of the event..also saw Infared HD [looked like him at least] right in the guy's face filming away hahaha!

Can't remember how I came across it, but ~~probably~~ more than likely via a random tweet.. What I do is; search the twitterverse for 'formspring.me' and pounce on a victim with a weird question from my ultimate query arsenal. the uber 'getting-to-know-someone-guide-with-oppugns-added-daily' Thing is though, not every question gets an answer.. I mean, I wish you could find the questions asked by people that the answer-er decided to ignore. Possibly be massive!

Facebook and ~~myspaz~~ myspace has that honesty-box thingie, but how anonymous is that if you have to LOG-IN. There is an optional log-in in the minamalistic formspring BUT why do that and spoil the random fun! It's been catching on fairly quickly too in the social circles I participate in..

I'm not entirely sure I am going to join it, I couldn't care less about being interrogated..maybe soon someone will come up with the idea 'Questions to Ask Random Formspringers'..

Slam101.fm BARBADOS goes LIVE

there's a new radio station in Barbados and it's SLAMming er, it's Slam101.fm

Seems to be run by King Bubba formerly of Mix96.9fm [2003/04], and thus far it's a hit with the select few who know it exists. Tuning in these past few nights I've heard soca, pop, alternative-rock, hiphop and dancehall playing on my fuzzy little transistor, albeit with actual DJ's scratching/effecting so content is not just some 100gb playlist looped. The signal is being adjusted daily so better quality is imminent. I've heard DJ Abraham [house/trance/progressive] is going to have a show there and I've read NRG and Verseewild [Azham Boss -98.1fm] are to be resident DJ's. The actual launch/premier date has been set to this coming Monday, seems the studio has finished it's testing stages.

Is it time for me to switch? Mixfm of late has been boring even though Annie [love her] has been very cheery on mornings with her super topics + news. I rather feel something is missing from the 'mix' and I don't mean in terms of Rebel's departure this week.. times have changed and so have they.. what I hear mostly is the new-fangled pop-alternative, some soca, hardly any real reggae, rarely any techno/house tunes [DJ Hunter has his 'dancey' thing on friday nights] and barely a few ROCK songs. When MixFm first started, Rock + Techno was what drew me to them, NO OTHER station in Barbados was playing those genres..

you know, in retrospect Bubba was the one who actually got me into liking Benny Benassi + Scooter..

The following is an excerpt from the Nation newspaper a few Mondays back discussing the serious subject of how easily young girls [teenagers mostly] fall for low-class men and the almost certain un-supported pregnancy that incurs. [written in bajan dialect]

I come along hearing the old people say how the bible say that in the last days children should have children and other things that we seeing as clear as day nowadays.

The truth is, when I use tuh hear dem talking dese things, I never used to pay it nuh mind, really; but in recent times I have had tuh sit up and take note of it - wha' it really happening in trute.
Look, a day doan go by wid-out seeing a hard-side li'l girl who ain't dream tuh loss she mudda feautres yet, walking down de road wid a big able belly sticking out in front o' she, looking like a lizard dat swallow an ackee seed.
I wonder how the boy or man who might be responsible for this situation does feel, knowing that that this is a li'l young girl who relly ain't know one thing bout life - or as the old people say, who ain't see a star pitch yet. I does wonder if the li'l girls demselves understan wha dem getting demselves into.
I does look at them, and ask myself how they see their future now, dat they have to stop going tuh school and shut down their education [temporary in some cases] tuh become a mother at such a early age.
Lord, I ain't teling ya nuh lie, I does really have tuh look at dem and wonder if de body who get them in this way is somebody who gine make sure dat duh put things in place fuh the baby when it comes. But I really and truly cahn understan these li'l girls though. You would believe dat because they come along poor and watch their own mothers struggling tuh put a li'l bittle fuh dem and duh brothers and sisters, they would keep duh li'l tails quiet.
And that they would make a sensible decision tuh stay away from getting duhselves involved wid anybody until duh get a few certificates in duh hand, so they could find a job and help put something pon the table fuh the younger ones when the week come. It never ceases tuh amaze me, when I see these li'l girls, sometimes in duh school clothes, walkin the road and laughing up in the face o' these knot-up head, rusty looking, cigarette smoking men wid duh pants all the way below duh botsies, boots that look too big fuh duh foot and two hard foot look like burn cane in a three-quarter jeans. I really cahn understand it - how dese young fellows see demselves.,
Or yuh would see big hard back men eyeing up and making all sorts of kinds of igrunt comments bout a li'l girl when she pass by, and yuh does have to ask ya'self wha really going on in some o' these men's heads. Another thing dat does get me is dat some o' dese same young girls would know dat these boys are men doan drive a stroke when the day come. They might even know dat these men might have another young girl like duh self dealing wid, or even live wid a woman and children in a house; yet duh would still leh these kinda men come along and jump on pon dem and blight up duh young lives.
But I does feel fuh the poor li'l wuns coming into a world like this, with a mother who ain't know B from bull, and a father who might got more than one woman, and cahn gi' she a pack of pampers or a tin o' baby powder. I does really wonder how he does feel though, just dropping children 'bout the place like a village ram.
I doan know, but people who call duhselves men like duh aint got nuh kinda regard fuh who dem breed up. It looks sometimes like these men doan really care about the fact that this is their offspring dat dem dropping bout all bout de place so.

how TOM turned jerry's shirt blue

tom and jerry are two advanced nano-scientist stickbots on tech-lunch break.

tom want's to try out his new technique of colour-changing-telekesis-cloning
so he touches jerry, sending a super direct-connect-wi-max signal. jerry's eyes turn yellow as his nano-core processes the incoming connection.
after a quick calculation, jerry's eyes turn red...
tom is satisfied; the first test worked almost flawlessly.
however he wants the whole schAbang, so still touching jerry he sends a higher signal.
jerry's shirt turns yellow while processing this new level of wi-max, tom's eyes flicker... the amount of power he is using is subtracting from his personal storage capacity, but determined to see this experiment through, he quadruples his dc to the maximum level avalaible.
SUCCESS, jerry's shirt turns blue, the procedure works and tom ends his connection.
now if only he could find a way to change the proccessing colour to blue.........cue the song 'blue' - eiffel 65

Nifca Literary Arts Gala 2009

Yes, I attended, my first National Independence Festival of Creative Arts [Literary Gala]
A few of the highlights...

Prose fiction seemed to be the theme of the night..the mc 'Dempstu DJ Simmons' was uber-cool, even performed his piece at the very end of the night [adrian-greene style]. What I found exciting was the 'wait i forget what i was saying', a pause, then jumping right back in, very intelligently done..well rehearsed

Indrani played a lovely guitar number called 'To The Other Side'. I had no idea her voice has graced over a 1000 songs, she's got that india.arie type flow going on, [confirmed-On her fb page, she likes India.Arie!]

this lady's voice is sooooo cool, very fragile/delicate, I absolutely loved her storytelling, she did an excerpt from the audiobook 'cricket ball in the sky' which was on sale for 40 bucks after the show.

Peter Owen the 'boomtuk in my blood' guy, he got the most laughter out of everyone, highly comical!

Shanniqua Harrison [if I recall correctly] won a gold award for her poem 'butterfly in paris', which the chief judge [UWI professor of theatre and drama] liked so much, he wanted to perform it with her.

The LONGEST piece [the supremes are coming] was a story about The Supremes coming to Barbados, whch captured the standpoint of 2 die-hard Diana Ross bajan fans and the angry mob behind them, set around the year 1967.

The late Alfred Pragnell was honored, with his very amusing piece 'sumbady funeral' playing on the projector, midway through the gala.

It was interesting to hear how many northern schools, 'Roland Edwards', 'St.Silas' were winning awards..
The chief judge stated that entries from the adults had more errors than the juniors. HOW APALLING! Also one of the first things he said was 'you can't be a writer unless you're a reader' and proceeded to show a slide of Obama [who has published 2 books] clutching a book of short stories from a renowned bajan author just a few days after winning the US presidency.

No, not hi-top sneakers/so last summer 09 [previous trend was in 2003/04, I actually still have my old Adidas under my bed at my mom's house...Vintage I call them], Big Boots, you know the ones where if you were a fisherman in Slovenia, you have to be donning them everyday. The ones, soldiers wore back in the 60's.....Yup, they're back

Can't even remember how I was to begin...

so my mobile [nokia e62] isn't working, no matter what store I take it to. There is one last obscure person, I'm going to try before I officially decommission it [read:destroy]. Such a shame as I've written all my cinema outings in the calender app. This means I'll have to try and remember all the films Ive seen since Feb.09, so that in turn I could post and updated "Films I've Seen For The Year" post.
The last film I've seen was "The Knowing". Saw it last night with Angels + Demons [had the book, didn't read it]. 2 top thrillers. Brilliant action scenes with Clive in Knowing. The airplane crash scene seemed like if you were there, the way the plane just slid across the highway, rolled, tumbled and ended up on the field, amidst random explosions! DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA!!

Brilliant then there was the subway, oh my the subway was even more horrific. You just had to be in the cinema to feel those vibrations and rumblings. Will there really be a time when the sun demolishes the entire earth? This was the question on my mind directly after. How interesting is it, that the last trip I made to the cinema before last night was; to see Duplicity [also starring Clive]. Next, he's in The International [still hasn't reached our shores as yet]. Somehow I always get mixed up with Clive and Nicolas Cage.
Ron Howard's Angels + Demons had a terrific twist at the end. A very nice twist indeed.

Spent some time with Char up OCEAN CITY [I profess to be the loveliest place on this island!]. We took some images, but little does she know I would have taken a few of her when she was oblivious to the area of which my cam was pointing! haha

my last house/club mix, of which I am listening to as I hack away at the touchscreen keyboard of the cracked iPod touch. This mix was done just before Easter, just before I installed windows 7, just before the power rail on my m1330 gave out and the dapple was no longer alive. Still, I am without my precious laptop, took it to the folks @ tropical computers (dell's authority here) to have them tell me I've got get a new motherboard. After I told them it just needs the bloody power rail. So likw an ass,I'll buy the motherboard, then pay you 172.50/hour to "install" it, then to have you realize only a power rail was needed? After all new motherboard or not, the computer can't function without POWER, which is what the power rail facilitates. Imagine I had to pay 86.25 for a 'diagnosis'. I already know what is wrong with my system (after careful research), therefore I paid a fee for you to tell me what I already insisted I know. This just makes the situation worse!

The last juror is the final novel I have to read before returning to the library.

Was barely OK, nuff said. [rip bernie mac], If I had to rate out of 10, I would have to give 6.

Punisher: War Zone [twice]
I liked. Gun action much?
Best line; "who punishers the punisher"
Best scene; when the Punisher blows the guy jumping from one building to the next straight into nothings with a huge rocket launcher...Got the most crowd response in the cinema! 8.5

Liam Neelson is a brilliant actor, what can I say [he's got skills!] that's a pun btw. Loved how the film gave an insight into human trafficking in Europe. Holly Valance played a diva!. 7.5

7 Pounds
Nifty suspense-filled drama-like thriller. Will Smith plays a caring donor who seeks random less-fortunate persons to help. This, a result after causing his wife's death and I presume six others in an accident. Eyes, heart, kidney, bone marrow and house are given. A sad film with a little romance. 7.5

Yes Man
I thought was going to be a corny comedy, but twas actually funnier than I expected. Shows what happens when one says yes to everything without thinking about the consequences. The starring actress had a kinda kay perry image about her. The characters of Vernush and the immature loan boss were interesting. The director made a very slight appearance in the end. There was a lyric that stood out somewhere in the middle "I'm not a booty call, don't call me after 11, you might call me at 10.59 but not 11." 6.5

Splinter
Recieved a good response from the audience..Shows that low-budget, indie-like films can cause reaction. Maybe there's a sequel, as the splinter creature was shown to have twitched just before the credits. Don't you just love how most films nowadays introduce the "maybe a sequel" scene in such subtle ways..
Best scenes; the detached hand walking around in the gas station store and Seth [with his temperature around 8o degrees] making his way to the patrol car. Nice Acting! 8

Sex Drive
The funniest of this group. Well written and directed. Guy steals his brother's car to meet a chick he met online, halfway across the country. Meets amish people and gets arrested on the way. All in the hope of losing his virginity. Seth Green played a sarcastic Amish. James Mardsen was the jock-like big brother [licence plate read NOFATCHX] who turned out to be gay and Fall Out Boy made an appearance. Josh Zuckerman, Clark Duke and Amanda Crew were the main actors. Neat! Can't forget the lovely Alice Greczyn. Rumspringa YEAY! 8.5

Next up, Twilight, Transporter 3, Marley And Me and Underworld: ROTL
I would love to see "Moon" read a lot about it at Sundance this year. Also, the much acclaimed "Curious Case of Benjamin Button" which might take away all the Academy awards for 2009.

there has been a lack of presence. [49 days]. Evidently busy_ness has been extremely time consuming...priorities were set and followed [somewhat].

Now in two thousand and nine, I strive to let what is written in these posts to be of a certain maturity. Of course there will always be, something or the other to bring a smile to readers' faces. No more horrendously long jumbled posts....and less long irregular titles.

People speak of resolutions. [what exactly are those things?] I translate "las resolutiones" to; personal goals..of which I've made some;
read more [novels, popular lifestyle magazines of every month]
hit the beach at least 3rice\month
be of an even more optimistic nature
continue tertiary education [spanish especially]
be less amicable but help where i can
have "me" time
consume less sodas but use more wine
just 'some' as i said..
